Information about rebuilding tapes

Description

All rebuilds are done with quality industry standard materials

Rebuilding = New Pads, New Splice and Cleaning the pinch roller to make sure the tape turns smooth when playing.

Please note: There are some things about rebuilding that can be a small issue and we always try to avoid those issues but you never know what your getting into when you have to open one up.

Most tapes can be opened without doing any major damage to the labels but there is always going to be  some that will require puncturing the label to get to the spots needed to release the tabs to open them, when that happens we do out best to keep it at a minimum so it is the least noticeable after as possible. we will always do our best top open them without damaging the label.

The plastic on these tapes is 30-50 years old, it can be brittle at times and pins can snap, shells can crack, if a pin gets broken we will repair attempt to repair it on the inside with superglue, otherwise if it’s on one of the four corners we will leave it be as we already use Hot Glue or a strategically placed small piece of clear tape to seal the corners back, Hot Glue is the go to around here because it make the tapes easy to open back up later should it need to be serviced again in the future and does not leave the white stains associated with Superglue and plastic (superglue to seal the tapes back is only used when requested)

Tapes can be wedding caked or bound up inside from years of being bounced around, we do our best to get them back into proper playing order and use gloves when handling them, that doesn’t mean the tape has never been touched by human hands.. but rest assured, when we are handing it we use gloves to do so.

If we notice the tape is severely damaged upon opening it we will let you know as soon as we know, small creases or rough spots will smooth out over time, there are additional steps that can be taken to restore the tape itself to as best as it can be if the damage is severe, we will discuss that if the situation comes up, completely restoring the tape itself is not part of rebuilding the tape to play.
